This is an entry from my diary. Please check it and correct any mistakes.

Suddenly, I recall that once I bought a scented candle. That candle had an ocean scent, and I thought it would smell lighter than other sweet candles. However, I was wrong. After the candle had been lit for 15 minutes, I felt dizzy and began to have difficulty breathing. I immediately went to the balcony. Then, I felt better after a half hour.

Try:

I don't know what "thought it would smell lighter than other sweet candles means". The word "lighter" doesn't collocate well with "candle" for me. Also, by saying "other sweet candles", you're suggesting that the smell of the ocean is a sweet smell. If you meant "other candles - ones that are sweet", you needed "thought it would smell nicer/fresher/better than a sweet candle".

The smell of the ocean is not that strong compared to a sweet candle.

@Maybo I don't know much about scented candles and the terms used to describe them so I left that part stand. (I am not at all sure what a "light'" scent would be, and I'm not sure what "sweet" scents are either.)

I am puzzled by "smell lighter than a sweet candle" too. By "lighter", I think you mean a smell that is fainter/not as strong.
