I'm writing a script:

He pulls the door open and shines his flashlight into the shed... but it's empty. He turns off the flashlight, closes the door, then turns to head back to the house, when he sees -- a light on in the bedroom on the second floor. Did I leave that on? He's not sure. He hurries back to the house...

The bold-faced sentence is a question he's asking himself without saying it out loud. Is it correct and how you would phrase it in this context?
 
No, not at all. You're writing as if you were writing prose. This is just stage direction, so don't do things like that. Just say something like Wondering whether he left the light on, he hurries back to the house. Don't try to make it sound like a novel.

Remember that the 'writing' part of what you're doing is entirely in the dialogue. The stage directions are nothing more than a way to help the director understand what to do.
