Did I receive tax exemption from/for my tuition fee last year?

1) Did I receive tax exemption from/for my tuition fee last year? (for or from?).
2) I am eligible for tuition fees refund, instead of paying the taxes with money, it can be paid by deducting from the tuition fee refund.


I hope somebody can tell me if the above sentences are constructed correctly. :-o

2. I am eligible for a refund on my tuition fees. Instead of paying the tax separately, the tax can be deducted from my refund.
 
1)Did I receive a (if you are not sure it is possible) / the (if you know it is authorized) tax exemption from/for my tuition fee last year? (for or from?).
2) I am eligible for a tuition fees refund, and instead of [STRIKE] paying the taxes with money [/STRIKE] remitting the tax directly, it can be paid by deducting from the tuition fee refund.


I hope somebody can tell me if the above sentences are constructed correctly. :-o
