I saw a man drop something on the road. Which of the following questions is natural?

1. Did you drop something?
2. Have you dropped something?

If you saw it happen, then you would pick it up, then go after him and just say "Excuse me. You dropped this" and hand it back to him.

If something is left on the ground, a man is standing near there. But I am not sure whether he dropped it. Which of the following questions is natural?

1. Did you drop something?
2. Have you dropped something?
