I saw a sentence in my English garmmar book. "Did you go anywhere interesting for your holiday"

Why we don't say Did you go to anywhere interesting for your holiday

I can't understand

Why we don't say "Did you go to anywhere interesting for your holiday?" Please note the corrected punctuation.

One definition of 'anywhere' is

in, at, or to any place

so there is no need to write 'to' as well (though as Mike said, you could).
