Hello, teachers.

I have a question.

I saw a sentence in my English garmmar book. "Did you go anywhere interesting for your holiday"

Why we don't say Did you go to anywhere interesting for your holiday

I can't understand

It is just the way it is said. Your version is grammatical, but it is not common. English is a quirky language.

You mean; Both are alright. but grammatically, "Why we don't say Did you go to anywhere interesting for your holiday" is better.

MikeNewYork said 'it is not common' rather than 'it is better'.

[STRIKE]Hello, teachers.[/STRIKE] Unnecessary.

[STRIKE]I have a question.[/STRIKE] Unnecessary.

I saw a sentence in my English grammar book. "Did you go anywhere interesting for your holiday?" I hope your grammar book had a question mark there. Please copy carefully.

Why we don't say "Did you go to anywhere interesting for your holiday?" Please note the corrected punctuation.

One definition of 'anywhere' is

in, at, or to any place
(Collins)

so there is no need to write 'to' as well (though as Mike said, you could).
