Did
[/FONT]indicated that the sentence is past tense so 'used to' should not be the answer. Shouldn't the answer be 'use to'?Thanks in advances.

Hello, yoriko520.:-D

For some information on 'used to', please see here.

I've noticed that you keep saying "Thanks in advances." at the end. But it should be "Thank you in advance."
If you're interested in the expression, please see here.

Well, I used to use it (to be polite), but now I don't. I just say "Thank you." instead.
:-D

All the current grammar books seem to favour 'didn't use to'.

'Didn't used to' is clearly wrong.

In my boyhood, people used to say 'used not to', but this is rare now.

b

PS As, in 'used to', the /d/ often assimilates to the voicelessness of the 't', giving [ju:stʊ] before a vowel or [ju:stə] before a consonant.

This construction confuses many people. The pronunciation of "used to" is almost exactly the same as "use to" because the "d" sound gets buried in the "t" sound.
