Hello everyone,

What's the difference in meaning between pantry and larder?

Thank you in advance,
Madox

I have never heard anyone use the word "larder."

I think, as the names suggest, that the larder was where meat was stored and the pantry was for breads and cakes. The larder would have to be cooler than the pantry, to keep the meat fresh. Nowadays I guess they're interchangeable. Then there's the scullery too, not sure what that was for without looking it up...
