Basic difference
affect → usually a verb (an action)
effect → usually a noun (a result)
Meaning
affect = to influence or change something
The rain affected our plans.
(The rain changed your plans)
effect = the result or outcome
The rain had a big effect on our plans.
(The result was a change in your plans)
Easy trick to remember
A = Action → affect (verb)
E = End result → effect (noun)
