[Grammar] difference between "all over the" and "all of the "

I would be very glad if you could tell why "all of the " is not right to be used in this sentence.
I chose "all over the" to be the answer.

The song is famous all ......... the world .

And please tell me the difference between the two sentences below.
1) The song is famous all over the world .
2) The song is famous all of the world .
 
"All of the" indicates the entire quantity. Like "I ate all of the ice cream."

It doesn't work in your sentence at all.
