What's the difference between fine and nice?
1. He is a fine man. (= very good)
He is a nice man.

2. It's a fine knife.
It's a nice knife.

1. He is a fine man. = very good
He is a nice man. = pleasant/amiable

2. It's a fine knife. = serviceable/sharp
It's a nice knife. = lovely to look at

Others will have different opinions, though judging by the lack of response, nobody else cares.
