please help me by telling the difference between 'unlike' and 'contrary to' with usage examples of the both :?:

Unlike = not the same as
Contrary to = the opposite of

I like horror films, unlike my friends, who mostly like romantic comedies.
(Horror films are not the opposite of romantic comedies, just different.)

Contrary to your statement that I have a lot of money, I am in fact bankrupt.
