[Idiom] "Do chores" or "do the chores"

Is the expression (if it is in this case) "do chores" or "do the chores"? Is it along the line of "do the dishes" and "do the laundry"?

I would say so. If you do chores you preform some type of work. An example is, "You will have to do some chores". If you do the chores, you preform certain specific jobs - "Here is a list of the chores that you will have to do: slop the hogs, feed the chickens, milk the goats, and wash my car".
