I have made up the sentences below.
(1) Jack studied a lot. He doesn't know why he can't get a good job no matter how hard he tries.
Most of my non-native friends revised my first sentence to the one below.
(2) He accomplished an advanced education. He doesn't know why he can't get a good job no matter how hard he tries.
Does the phrase in bold in my original sentence fit this context? Thank you for your help.
