Does "The futures" with s in here mean things that are going to happen to you not time to come?
I have checked the dictionary and found, "commodities or other financial products bought or sold at an agreed price for delivery at a specified future date See also financial futures"
Definition of futures | Collins English Dictionary

I think you must have misheard it. The sentence is correct without the final s, and incorrect with it.

The definition of futures that you looked up refers to financial contracts in which people agree to buy and sell a commodity at a certain future time, but at a price that is fixed today by the contract. That, in my opinion, is the only legitimate use of futures.
