There is an idiom in Arabic that is similar to " don't go that far." It's used when someone give or provide example or answer that they shouldn't say because there are familiar and obvious answer.
Example:
A person from a dictatorship country and let's say its name is (A) Says country "V" is a dictatorship.
B replied to A "Don't go that far." He means you should mention the country you live in or the surrounding countries, not an oversea country that is far from you.
I hope the example I provided is clear and is there an equivalent to "don't go that far" in English?
