Please tell me if I write the following sentence using 'either' in the sense of 'each of two'.

1 ) The room has a fireplace at either end.
 
Please tell me if [STRIKE]I write the following sentence using[/STRIKE] 'either' in the following sentence means [STRIKE]sense of[/STRIKE] 'each of two'.

If you mean two fireplaces, you are right. If you mean one fireplace, you need to say "there is a fireplace on one end or the other."
