I would like to ask about a phrase "extend an idea". Now I will simply try to define it with my own words.

Definition: If you extend an idea, it becomes more general and exhaustive, becoming related to more things.

Are these identical phrases to "extend an idea"?

1. Broaden an idea.
2. Widen an idea.

Thank you.

Can you give an example of what you mean by 'an idea'?

No, those don't work in lieu of the above. In fact, the usual expression is just "extend this/that", without "idea".

Then what would the another identical verb to to extend be?

Thank you.

What exactly is it that you're trying to establish here?

Wasn't this very clear? I am looking for an identical verb.

Thank you.

Well, no because you started by asking about one thing, and now you're asking about something else.

Yes, but that else thing is about this topic and I kinda know that if I would have opened a thread asking it, you would have joined it to this, as always. In PM, you said you split up them if required.

Thank you.
