I thought 'fagbag' was an offensive word for a male homosexual. Is it some kind of a bag, really?

'Bag' is offensive? Not in Aus. A bag is something you carry things in.

"Old bag" is a fairly derogatory term for an older lady.

My only guess for the meaning of a "fagbag" is that it's similar to a "bum bag" (BrE) or "fanny pack" (AmE). It is perhaps a small bag with enough space for a packet of cigarettes - "fag" is an informal term for a cigarette in BrE.
