Hi all,

I am pretty new to this so I am hoping you can help me, I have come across a stumbling block in a piece of grammar I am reading. The sentence reads 'When Jeff agreed to spend Christmas and the New Year in Sussex, staying in turn with each of their familys.......' Now I am wondering if this way of spelling familys is correct in this particular sentence? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

No, it is not correct.

So it is 'families' then?

Thank you for your help

Your appreciation is welcome but there is no need to write a new post to say Thank you. Simply click the Thank button on any posts you find helpful. It means that we don't have to open the thread again to read your new post and then find that it doesn't include any new information or an additional question.

'When Jeff agreed to spend Christmas and the New Year in Sussex, staying in turn with each of their families...'
Use only three dots for an elision.

That should read 'When Jeff and [somebody else] agreed...'

Most of the dictionaries here will give you the plural of 'family'. (Bookmark that site for future reference.)
