I came across a sentence:
He was far from being unique in finding the answer to his problem in this way.
I remember there's a similar sentence structure:
The treatment is far from perfect.

Then I wonder if "being" can be omitted in the first sentence so that it writes:
He was far from unique.
In this sentence structure, is "being" optional?
For example, is the sentence "His mother is far from satisfied with his exam result" correct, or should I say "His mother is far from being satisfied with his exam result"?
Could you help explain? Thank you.
 
The 'being' is optional in those sentences. Yes, you can omit it.
