Are they any medical experts here to help answer this question: What are fertilization and conception? Do they happen at the same time? Do they mean the same thing but from different perspectives?

Thank you.
(do you think this question digressed?)

I am not a medical expert but I have a working understanding of the two relevant words. The mother conceives and the father fertilizes. Sometimes the word 'fertilize' is used for what the sperm does to the ovum.

(And you're right in suspecting that the ontological question is a digression from what this forum typically discusses, but I'll leave it to an expert to give as brief an answer as possible. ;-))

Yes, fertilization and conception refer to the same event.
