What tense does "for now" evoke? I hear on the radio things like

For now clashes continue in the.....

I wonder is it possible to use the Present Continuous as well?

Could you give more examples with "for now".

It just basically means "at the moment" but leaves open the possibility that the situation might change.

- Would you like more coffee?
- No, I'm OK for now thanks.

- Is fighting still going on in Afghanistan?
- For now, yes.
- Wow, I hope it will end soon.

- Are you going to sign up for English lessons?
- No. For now, I'm happy studying on my own at home.

I see, I just want to figure out if it can be used with the Present Continuous. How would you say it?

1) Yes, for now it is going on/Yes, it is going on for now.
2) Yes, for now it goes on/Yes, it goes on for now.
