From the ceiling hung the chandelier.
The verb is hung. Now, if you think ceiling is the subject, slow down. Ask who or what hung. The answer is chandelier, not ceiling. Therefore, chandelier is the subject.

I have just read the above section from the site:Finding Subjects and Verbs | Grammar Rules
Is the following sentence better?
From the ceiling the chandelier was hung.
Can I understand the sentence"From the ceiling hung the chandelier." as the sentence bellow?
From the ceiling (people or someone else) hung the chandelier.
Is the original sentence the active?
 
From the ceiling hung the chandelier. - The chandelier hung from the ceiling.

The verb HANG is used intransitively here; it's active voice.
