Point out the difference in meaning between the Ss below by translating or explaining it in your own words: (0.50x2=1)
a) He paid him to translate the essay.
b) He paid him for translating the essay.

a) He paid him to translate the essay. = When does the essay get translated? We don't know.
b) He paid him for translating the essay. = The essay was translated before he was paid.

Note this: Please go to the store. (I want you to go now.)
Thank you for going to the store. (You went in the past.)
