Hello. I don't know exactly what this below sentence means.

Patrick got best on ground at the district lightning premiership.

Does it mean Patrick was the best player at the district soccer league?
 
I think best on ground means that he was the best player in a game, not just the best on his team.
 
Sounds right. I've never met it though - 'Man of the Match' is more common.

'Best in Show' refers to horses, dogs, and flower shows.
