Why not say "going to the/a beach" in the above passage?

Why not say "going to the/a beach" in the above passage?

It should. But we often omit articles in things like headlines, step-by-step instructions, and lists.

Notice, though, that the list is generally sloppy:

- It lacks parallel construction.
- Number 2 doesn't quite make sense.
- Number 4 ends with "such as," so the next three items should be sub-items, not 5, 6, and 7..
- Number 5 is not grammatical.
