If you learn something from our answers, then you are not wasting our time. A "grope" is different than a simple "touch" in that it lasts longer and is more invasive. I can gently tap someone on the shoulder from the back in order to get their attention and that is a "touch." If I place my hand on their shoulder and leave it there for several seconds, and then squeeze their shoulder, then that's considered "groping" them. It's an unwelcome and overly-friendly gesture.

To my ears, groping involves some degree of squeezing, closing the hand, sensing the shape or consistency of the body part in question, and so on. But I agree the person was lazy not to consult a dictionary first.
