Hello again,

I am riding my bike home, but now I have to leave the bikers' route and cross the road. I am getting off the bike and leading it. Halfway through the walkway, because of an oncoming car, I am half-riding with one leg on the left-hand pedal and half-pushing myself away with the other leg.

What is the proper name for the activity of half-riding and half-pushing oneself away with the other leg?

What do you think?

I will try and make the sentence easier for you. When crossing the road, I am putting my left-hand leg on the left-hand bike pedal while pushing myself away with the right-hand leg. Maybe now the sentence is more clear to you.

What would you call this activity?

It was clear enough in the OP. I'm not aware of any word for this activity.

I'd probably call it half-riding, half-walking your bike.

I've been doing this all my life and I've never heard of a specific term.

.
It's a bit like riding a scooter, so maybe you could call it 'scooting'.

(But I'm clutching at straws. [link])

How about "riding a bike with one leg pushing the ground"?

Please don't bother about the name. I think the post # 6 is sufficient. It is no use thinking up the name for an ordinary activity.
