[Vocabulary] handcraft VS handicraft

Hello,

Are "handcraft" and "handicraft" the same thing, just a minor difference in spelling? Is it one BE and the other AE?

Most dictionaries here say they are synonymous.

I'd say that 'handicraft' is by far more common – at least in BE.

In AmE too and I would add that "handcraft" is more often used in verb form as in, "Did you handcraft the item yourself?" "Yes, I handcrafted it all by myself."
 
"Handicraft" is not familiar to me. I am used to "handcrafted" as an adjective. This beer was painstakingly handcrafted by master brewers.
