Dear friends,

"Can you tell me more about the movie you are seeing today?"

Has the person (you, literally) already seen the movie or he is going to see it?

For me, the person hasn't seen it yet. If they had already seen it, there would be no reason to use the present progressive, and if they were watching it at the time of asking the question, the verb seeing sounds unnatural to me.

It means that I am going to see it. The present continuous is frequently used to indicate a planned future action. "I´m having dinner with X on Friday."

If I am going to a theater, I would say I am going to see a movie.

If I bring a DVD home, I am going to watch a movie.
