Hey. Which of the following sounds more correct in modern English?

1. I rather have it painted.
2. I rather have it paint.

They are both wrong. You could say "I would rather have it painted".
 
Don't we use RATHER as an adverb of degree similar to quite or fairly here?

Ex: I rather think we're going to lose.

It is used correctly in that example. It is not correct in the previous example.
