I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

1. Having broken her legs twice on a slippery street, Maria bought an expensive pair of winter boots with studs.

or should I write like this:

2. After she had broken her legs twice on a slippery street, Maria bought an expensive pair of winter boots with studs.

I prefer number 2. In both sentences, the reader may wonder how Maria managed to break both legs on two separate occasions. Can you revise the sentence to say that she suffered a broken leg twice?

Would this version be OK?

After she had broken her leg on a slippery street on two occasions, Maria bought an expensive pair of winter boots with studs.

That's fine.

Perhaps this: After she broke her leg for the second time on the slippery street, Maria...

I assume she didn't buy the boots after each occasion of her breaking her leg.

I am just wondering if I use past perfect in my sentence, would this be correct, "After she had broken her leg for the second time..."

It would work for me.
