Hello All,

I am not sure in the following sentences whether "he absolutely deserves all the respect he is getting" is correct or "he absolutely deserves all the respect he has got/gotten"

"One other thing is that Pele has done loads of charity work, and in a couple of natural disasters around the world he has been one of the first few people to help, and come to the disaster-stricken aid. All in all, in a world where money is the only important thing for many athletes, seeing someone like him is very pleasant and he absolutely deserves all the respect he is getting."

As always, you should tell us where you found this quote and who wrote it.

It's fine as it is. He is still getting the respect he deserves.

BE speakers rarely use 'gotten'.

Thanks so much. That text extracted form my teacher' s speaking book.
How about " he deserves all the respect he gets"? is that o.k as well?

That sentence is grammatically correct. Note my corrections to your post above.

"Gotten" is very common in AmE.
