Hi,

When someone forgot everything, even with the words said one minute ago.

Can I say "He always forgot what he said!" ?

Is there any syntax error in "He always forgot what he said!" ?

For example, below are the options to say:

1. He always forgot what he said!
2. He always forgot what he had said!

3. He always forget (what he said) / (what he had said)!
4. He always forgets (what he said) / (what he had said)!

which one is right ?

Please help to explain why, thanks.

1. He always forgot what he said!
2. He always forgot what he had said!

Both of these could work- it depends on the time of speaking.

If you are talking about a habitual situation where someone always forgets what they previously said, then "He always forgets what he has said" would be most appropriate. Once that person has died, you would say "He always used to forget what he had said".
