[Grammar] He goes to bed ... earliest of all.

Are the following sentences correct? Do we need an artticle before earliest or latest?

1) He goes to bed ... earliest of all.
2) He goes to bed ... latest of all.
 
I would say,
1- He's the first to go to bed.
2- He's the last to go to bed.
 
So 'earliest/latest of all' is unnatural in any context, right?
