Please tell me the difference between “the other day” and “ a few days ago”.

1. He had an accident the other day.
2. He had an accident a few days ago.
 
There's no absolute difference. They both refer to a non-specific day that's probably longer ago than yesterday (or even the day before yesterday) but not as long ago as a week.
 
Both are not specific and are a matter of days.
