Hi Teachers,

Can you please tell me which of the two sentences below is the correct one. I'm a little bit confused wether I should user in or on.

1. He lies on the bed.
2. He lies in the bed.

Thanks so much in advance.
 
If he's tucked up under the sheets/blankets/duvet (the bedclothes) then he's (lying) in bed (not 'in the bed').

If he's lying on top of the bedclothes then he's lying on the bed.
