No. The most logical answers to that question are either a time, or a day/month/year.

Q: When do you expect him to finish the work?
A: 5pm/Tomorrow/Wednesday/Next March/2026.

To use the continuous, "He's probably finishing it as we speak" is possible.

It's not a particularly natural response to any question. It's taken me a while to come up with a possibility:

Q: What will he be doing with his painting at 5pm today?
A: He'll be finishing it.

Whenever you note down sentences, make sure you also note the surrounding context or at least the word or grammar point that the example was supposed to be helping you with.
