hear tell

Is it OK to use 'hear tell' as in "I hear tell he's getting married next month."?
 
It's OK, but "tell" is really not needed there.
 
It's not needed but " hear tell" is an acceptable, if rather stylised, collocation in BrE.
 
And I would have said it was colloquial American English. So we both have it. :)
 
To ask a person if they've heard that someone is getting, could I just say "Do you hear he's getting married?"?
 
Have you heard that...?

Did you hear that...?
 
:up: And when you do use 'hear tell' (not in this context), remember to inflect only the 'hear': 'I hear tell...'/'I have heard tell...' etc.
