Hello, is the word "population" [STRIKE]is[/STRIKE] countable? [STRIKE]or non[/STRIKE]
:-D

It can be either; e.g.,

The population of salmon in the lake was under 10,000.

The populations of several countries were analyzed in the study.

Please put your question in the body of your thread so that respondents can use the "Reply with quote" facility. For this thread, the title could have been "Is 'population' countable?" and then the full question (as shown by teechar in #2) should be in the main text box.

What's the context? If you're talking in general, it is usually uncountable, but each country, city, etc, has its own population, so it can be plural.
