Dear Teacher,
I am confused about the usage of " admiring " in the following sentence:
Raisa, admiring the famous smile, stood before the Mona Lisa for hours.
As a dictionary, the definition of " admiring " is that :
The adjective admiring has one sense:
1.Showing or feeling amdiration.
I have tried to understand it fully, but I still can not understand it.
Is "admiring" in this sentence is adjective or gerund?
Does the famous smile belong to Mona Lisa?
Can I rewrite this sentence like that:
Raisa, Who is admiring the famous smile, stood before the Mona Lisa for hours.
Could you please help me explain how to use understand the sentence like that?
Sorry if I asked wrong questions.
Thanks.
