I saw the word "heredancy" in a video but I couldn't find it in the dictionary. What does that mean?

"In the end, people in the government are normal citizens. They aren't given their power, for example, through heredancy."

It seems to be a word he's made up, thinking it's something to do with inheritance.

If it isn't listed here, you can be be fairly certain it's at least non-standard and probably nonexistent.

He seems to be reading a script - he might have misread/mispronounced the word after "through".

I wonder what that is.
Heredity?

I think the guy speaking in the video did mean to pronounce "heredity." I hear "hereda(n)ty" ("t," not "c"):

"In the end, the people in the [U.S.] government are normal citizens. They aren't given their power, for example, through ______."

My guess is that the script said "inheritance".

What an awful video, and awful mistake. What he means, of course, is inheritance.

This doesn't seem like a verbal mistake on the presenter's part. It must have been in the script as heredancy, which is why the presenter says it like that and why it appears in the subtitle. It sounds like an awful mix of inheritancy and heredity.
