I am writing a film review on the movie Holes. The teacher said I am strong on plot summary but weak on insight. Can someone help me?

She means that you are merely telling the story, but you don't add anything about understanding.

I am not a teacher.

It is not clear from #1 whether the OP needs help understanding what the teacher meant, or in writing the review.

I understand what the teacher is saying. I need suggestions and ideals on insights.

We can't help you do your school work, butterfly127.

I am just asking for suggestions and ideals. I am writing the paper myself!

Can you give me a few ideals?

"Ideas," not "ideals."

And, no.

Your insight, or lack of it, is not a language issue.

I'm afraid I've only seen the movie once and it wasn't so memorable that I have any insights for you, but here are some questions you might answer:
1) WHY did the characters do what they did?
2) What did the characters learn? How did they grow?
3) How did this make you feel? or What impact was this supposed to have on the audience?
4) When you write a book report, you are often asked about the underlying theme - overcoming conflict, learning to look beyond the surface, how difficult situations bring out the best in some people and the worst in others. What is the theme of this movie?

Can you give me a few ideals?
More importantly, do you know what 'insight' means? I'd suggest looking it up in a few dictionaries, and trying to apply it to your essay. That is, try to show you teacher that you have some (insight).
