I'm a regular visitor (also have an account) in a Chinese forum. I notice that the website page says that they have 100,000 members but the actual fact is I see no more than 1,000 members there because it's a forum about ancient Chinese. Today I talked to the admin (an old friend of mine, he once asked me to become a moderator) and I said to him "Sorry for being rude. How did you come up with that 100,000 numbers of members while our forum have less than 1,000 members?"

Is my italic sentence natural and appropriate?
