It is important to note that this one is in the present tense and that "it" refers to something that has been previously mentioned or referred to in some way. In the case of food, the person might have just taken a bite of something, and when the other person says, "How do you like it?" both understand what is meant.

"How did you like it?" is past tense, and we are talking about something that has already happened -- food that has been eaten, a city that has been visited, etc.

Okay, if something is currently happening like somebody is eating food or wandering in a city or currently indulge in an activity so we can ask him " how do you like it(like city, food or any other thing)?" or if we have just had discussion regarding anything(like a city) then also we can say "how do you like it?"

But if anything has already happened like somebody has already been to New York then we can say "how did you like it?"

- Don't put a space after opening quotation marks.
- Put a space before an opening bracket.

Study the difference between "something" and "anything".

Remember that we reverse the subject and verb in a question.
