If you are sending a picture of yourself to someone you've never actually met (like e-mail friends),

1. This picture shows how I look.
2. This picture shows what I look like.

Which is correct? What is the difference between them?

*I AM NOT A NATIVE OR TEACHER.*

The first sentence addresses your feeling/mode/state/..., while the second one refers to your appearance. In the case you mentioned, the second one works.

I prefer the first sentence.
 
Sentence #2 is the correct way to say it.

There are differences of opinion among native speakers. However, bhai is a teacher.

I am a native AmE speaker and I agree with bhai. The second is better.
