I know the price is between $800 to $900 but do not know the exact amounts. Should I say it costs 800 dollars something or there is a better expression to say it? Thank you for your answer.

You can say:

- The price is between $800 and $900. (That's good standard English.)
- The price is eight hundred-something. (That's informal conversational English.)
- It costs over $800. (This implies that it's expensive.)
- It costs almost $900. (This implies that it's expensive.)
- It costs less than $900. (This implies that it's not expensive.)

Is 'around $850' possible?

It costs eight or nine hundred dollars can also be used when we're not sure of the price.

I prefer the expression it costs eight hundred-something though it may be informal conversational English. This is because this expression neither implies expensive nor unexpansive but simple. That’s what I want to express, it costs between $800 and $900.
