Hello,

I'd like to say a sentence about damage to the telephone/line. I'd like to say that when I dial a specific number completely different person answers, a person who has other phone number. Is the verb redirect okay here? See the example please:

1. When I call Barbara the phone redirects to xxx xxx xxx
2. When I call Barbara the number is redirected to xxx xxx xxx

thanks

'When I call Barbara the call is re-routed to xxx xxx xxx.'
Is it OK?

"When I call 123-456-789, it always goes through to 123-456-567."
"No matter what number I call, it always goes through to a different number."

"No matter what number I call, it always goes through to a different number."
Can it be rewritten as 'It is always misdirected to a different number whatever number I call'?

It really depends on whether the problem is with your phone or the service provider.

If your phone has a serious issue, where every time you type the number 1 it dials the number 4 or something similar, then I wouldn't say the call is misdirected. That is a serious but basic problem with your phone which would be the fault/responsibility of the manufacturer. For me, a misdirected call is one where you dialled the right numbers, the right numbers were 'broadcast' but then the mobile phone company directed the call to the wrong number.
