Is this right to say:

X is about hundreds times larger than Y (for example, to mean X > 200Y)

Thanks.

Is this right to say:

X is (about) hundreds of times larger than Y. :tick:
But "about" is awkward there. If you have to use a modifier there, 'approximately' would be better.

Thanks.

Hi 2006,
I have changed the sentence a bit. Could you please tell me how the sentence sounds now.

X is hundreds or even thousands of times larger than Y.
Or
X is hundreds or even more of times larger than Y.

Thanks for your help.

X is at least hundreds of times [STRIKE](or even more)[/STRIKE] larger than Y. :tick:

Thanks for your help.

Not a teacher.

The last sentence is no good.

An alternative for the first, instead of saying "hundreds or even thousands" is to say "orders of magnitude." X is orders of magnitude greater than Y.

But how many "orders of magnitude"?
