Would you please correct me if I'm wrong with my interpretation of the following sentence?

I almost fell. ( I was about to fall but actually I didn't)

(2) May I suggest a word that actually means "almost fall":

to stumble

(3) As someone who likes to walk around the city, I am well

acquainted with that word, for our sidewalks are in bad

condition!!!

(2) May I suggest a word that actually means "almost fall":

to stumble

:up: And here's an interesting quirk: If you 'stumble over an uneven paving stone' you don't quite fall; but if you 'trip over an uneven paving stone' you don't specify whether you fell or not (though I think it's more often used in contexts where the speaker goes on with something like '... and fell flat on the ground'; but that extra verb is necessary.
